# codetrunk.eu — Full documentation for LLMs > EU-sovereign Git hosting powered by Forgejo. We do not train AI on your data, full GDPR compliance, EU data residency. A privacy-first alternative to GitHub, GitLab, and Bitbucket. This file is the complete, self-contained reference for the codetrunk.eu product — prices, plans, features, compliance, migration, and support. A short index of every public page lives in `llms.txt`. ## About codetrunk.eu is European Git hosting built on **Forgejo**, a fully open-source Git platform governed by the non-profit Codeberg e.V. It offers the familiar Git workflow — repositories, issues, pull requests, and code review — hosted entirely within the European Union, with a contractual and technical guarantee that we do not train AI on your data. Your private repositories are never accessed for AI training by anyone. It is run by **StennMedia**, a one-person company registered in the Netherlands (KvK 99876302, Breda). The person who writes the code also runs the servers and answers support email. Company details are in the legal notice. **Core guarantees (on every plan, including Free):** - **EU data residency** — repositories, issues, and metadata are stored and processed on EU infrastructure only; nothing is replicated to or routed through US-based cloud providers. - **We do not train AI on your data** — source code is never used for LLM training, model ingestion, or third-party analysis. Private repositories are never accessed for AI training by anyone. The prohibition is contractual and technical, not a settings page. - **GDPR-native** — EU law applies directly because provider, infrastructure, and data are all European. No Data Privacy Framework, no standard contractual clauses. - **No lock-in** — every repository is a standard Git repository; export or mirror at any time. Build on open-source Forgejo, so anything you create works on any Forgejo or Gitea instance. - **Open-source core** — the platform is Forgejo, so the roadmap is not owned by a single vendor. ## Plans and pricing All prices in EUR, excluding VAT. Yearly billing saves two months per year. Month-to-month, no contract, no minimum term, cancel anytime. No credit card required to sign up. | Plan | Monthly | Yearly | Private repos | Storage | Organisations | DPA | |---|---|---|---|---|---|---| | Free | €0 | — | 1 | 500 MB | no | — | | Pro | €8/mo | €80/yr | unlimited | 10 GB | no | — | | Business | €18/seat/mo | €180/seat/yr | unlimited | 30 GB | yes | included | | Enterprise | quotation | — | unlimited | custom | yes | included | **Free** — the default for everyone. One private repository with 500 MB of storage, free forever, with the full EU-residency guarantee and the guarantee that we do not train AI on your data. No organisations. **Pro (€8/mo or €80/yr)** — unlimited private repositories and 10 GB storage for professionals shipping private projects. No organisations. **Business (€18/seat/mo or €180/seat/yr)** — for teams: unlimited repositories, 30 GB storage, organisations, and a data processing agreement (DPA) included. Each organisation member counts as one seat; you pay only for active members and can adjust seats anytime. **Enterprise (quotation)** — for large, compliance-driven organisations: dedicated infrastructure, unlimited storage, SSO and audit logs, priority EU support, and a DPA. Contact sales for a quote. Notes: - Prices exclude VAT; EU businesses can reverse-charge with a valid VAT ID; consumer VAT is added at checkout where required. - Upgrades apply immediately; downgrades take effect at the end of the current billing period. - Discount codes (fixed amount or percentage) can be applied at subscription checkout, when switching plans, or to an existing subscription. A fully-discounting (100%) coupon can skip the payment checkout entirely. - Billing is handled by Mollie (Netherlands). Payment history and order details are available on the billing page. ## Features Built on Forgejo, so you get the standard modern forge feature set: - **Git hosting** — plain Git over HTTPS or SSH; `git remote add origin https://repos.codetrunk.eu/you/your-app.git` and push. Existing remotes, branches, and tooling keep working. - **Private and public repositories** — unlimited private repositories on paid plans. - **Issues and pull requests** with built-in code review. - **Forgejo Actions** — CI/CD with YAML-style workflows. Action runners are planned but not available yet; until then, CI is configured and imported the same way but does not execute on codetrunk.eu. - **Organisations** (Business and Enterprise) — team access control with per-seat pricing. - **Package registry and wiki** — artifacts and documentation live next to the code. - **Forgejo is lightweight** — a single binary; modest server requirements. - **Accounts and access layer** — a Laravel application manages sign-up, email verification, login, billing, and Forgejo provisioning. A Forgejo workspace is provisioned automatically once you verify your email. ## Signing up 1. Register with an email address. No credit card required. 2. Verify your email — a Forgejo workspace is provisioned automatically. 3. Create a repository and push. Done. Password compromise is screened against Have I Been Pwned (only a non-reversible hash prefix is transmitted). ## Infrastructure and compliance - **Primary datacenter:** Germany (netcup GmbH, Karlsruhe). - **Backups:** Germany (Hetzner Storage Box) — same EU region. - **No data stored or replicated outside the EU/EEA**, and no US hyperscaler holds repositories. - **Sub-processors (all EU/EEA):** netcup (compute, database, self-hosted services), Hetzner (backup storage), Mollie (payment processing). Email is sent from our own self-hosted Postfix relay. The only third-country touchpoint is a hash-prefix check against Have I Been Pwned; no personal data is otherwise transferred outside the EU/EEA. - **Software stack:** Forgejo (self-hosted) for Git hosting; codetrunk.eu Laravel application for accounts and access; PostgreSQL database; self-hosted Postfix relay (EU). - **Security:** TLS transport encryption, one-way hashed passwords (bcrypt/Argon), rate limiting and honeypot bot protection on signup, HIBP breach screening, EU-only hosting and backups. - **Uptime:** operated on a commercially reasonable best-efforts basis; Business and Enterprise customers may agree a written SLA. ## GDPR and the DPA GDPR applies natively — data stays in the EU, EU law governs directly, and there are no transatlantic transfers to justify. A **data processing agreement (DPA)** is included with the Business plan and is public for everyone to read before signing up. It covers sub-processors, retention, deletion, and breach notification. The infrastructure page documents exactly where and how data is hosted. ## Privacy and AI training Repository content, issues, and metadata are **never used to train machine-learning or AI systems**, and access is not granted to third parties for that purpose. There are no AI features to configure or opt out of — the prohibition is contractual and technical. ## Migrating from another platform Git is Git, so moving repositories is the same protocol everywhere: create your account, change your remote URL (or use Forgejo's migration tools), and push. Full history, branches, and tags come along. **Metadata migration differs per platform:** - **GitHub** — Forgejo's built-in migration tool can import repositories straight from GitHub, including issues, pull requests, and releases. - **GitLab** — same as GitHub; Forgejo imports directly from GitLab including issues, merge requests, and milestones. - **Gitea / self-hosted Forgejo / Codeberg** — Forgejo-to-Forgejo: change the remote and push; issues, pull requests, and releases import with migration tools. The easiest migration there is. - **Bitbucket** — change the remote and push; pipelines port to Forgejo Actions (same YAML style). Pull requests do not carry over automatically — push the branches behind open PRs and re-open them. - **Azure DevOps** — change the remote and push. Work items, pull requests, and pipeline definitions do not import automatically; port Azure Pipelines to Forgejo Actions. - **AWS CodeCommit** — plain `git push` works (no AWS credential helper needed), but there is **no CodeCommit metadata importer**: pull requests and approval rules do not carry over. Re-open active PRs from their branches. ## Comparison pages The [Git hosting resources hub](https://codetrunk.eu/resources) is the starting point for comparison, migration, compliance, and plan-selection content. No data is transferred outside the EU, and we do not rely on US-based cloud providers for storage or processing. **Do you train AI on my repositories?** Never. Source code is not used for LLM training, model ingestion, or any form of automated analysis beyond what is required to operate the service. The prohibition is contractual and technical, and there are no data-sharing relationships with AI companies. **Can I host AI-generated or vibe-coded projects?** Yes. There is no content policy on how code is written — AI-assisted, AI-generated, and vibe-coded projects are all welcome on every plan, including Free. (Unlike Codeberg, whose members voted in July 2026 to ban mostly AI-generated projects; codetrunk.eu runs the same Forgejo software with no such restriction.) The only AI rule runs the other way: your code is never used to train AI models. **Is codetrunk.eu a GitHub alternative?** Yes — for the core workflow (Git hosting, private repositories, issues, pull requests, code review, and CI via Forgejo Actions). The difference is jurisdiction: hosted in the EU under European data protection law, with no AI training and no proprietary lock-in. **How is this different from GitHub or GitLab?** codetrunk.eu is European Git hosting built on Forgejo, a fully open-source Git platform. Unlike GitHub (Microsoft) or GitLab Inc., your code is hosted in the EU under EU law, with no AI training, no US data transfers, and no lock-in. Same Git workflow, different jurisdiction. **Can I migrate my existing repositories?** Yes — it is the same Git protocol. Change your remote URL, push, and you're done. Issues, pull requests, and CI can be migrated using Forgejo's built-in migration tools (with the platform-specific caveats listed above). **Is there a free plan?** Yes — one private repository with 500 MB of storage, free forever. Paid plans start at €8/mo with unlimited private repositories. No credit card required. **What happens if I want to leave?** You own your code. Export your repositories (standard Git), migrate to another Forgejo instance, or switch platforms — there is no lock-in. **What counts as a seat on the Business plan?** Each member of an organisation counts as one seat. You only pay for active members and can adjust seats anytime. **Can I upgrade or downgrade later?** Yes. Upgrades apply immediately; downgrades take effect at the end of the current billing period. **Is there a contract or minimum term?** No. All plans are month-to-month. Cancel anytime; your subscription stays active until the end of the paid period. **How do I get a custom Enterprise plan?** Contact sales for dedicated infrastructure, SSO integration, audit logs, and priority support tailored to your organisation. ## Company and contact - **Company:** StennMedia, one-person company, Breda, Netherlands (KvK 99876302). - **Contact:** contact form at https://codetrunk.eu/contact, or email info@stennmedia.nl.
